Whether you’re growing one for Moustache March, Movember or simply because it's the newest trend at the moment growing a stache takes time to grow and train. If you are not a patient person a stache may not be the look for you. If you are a patient person, here’s some tips.

TRIMMING

Initially the easiest way to trim your moustache is with clippers or a beard trimmer, after 3-4 weeks get a pair of facial hair scissors to trim around the mouth. At this point you should also start using a moustache comb and some wax. Using these will help shape and train your moustache filling any gaps also keeping it from looking fluffy or unruly

CLEAN IT

Facial hair can be very coarse, which can make your skin feel dry and itchy, try using a little facial hair shampoo and conditioner to keep your moustache clean and conditioned.

TRIM WHEN IT’S DRY

Do not trim a wet moustache. Wet hair is heavier and will hang longer. When it dries and retracts you probably will find you’ve trimmed more than you intended to.

COMBING

A moustache comb is an incredibly helpful tool. You can use it to evenly distribute moustache wax. It's also a useful aid when trimming. Use the comb to lift your stache hair, it’ll make trimming with scissors much easier.

FACE SHAPE IS IMPORTANT

It is important to account for your face shape when choosing a moustache style. Try to strike a balance between your face shape and the style you choose. If you have a more square face go for a heavy, longer moustache and if it’s more oval shaped opt for a medium width style.

THE BEARDSTACHE

Having heavier stubble and a thick moustache are two of the more common facial hair styles. If you combine them you have the beardstache. For those who are considered growing a moustache but are unsure whether or not they can pull it off, the Beardstache provides a simple way to test out the look. Using your beard trimmer go over the cheeks, neck and jaw every few days maintaining stubble that sits somewhere between a five o’ clock shadow and a full beard. On the upper lip, make sure to keep it trimmed to just above the top lip.

MOISTURIZE

The skin underneath your moustache gets dry easily due to the hair drawing it’s moisture from the skin, allowing it to evaporate. To avoid stache dandruff, moisturize the skin under your moustache daily.
